In order to keep abreast of increasingly growing sport events and to modernize existing, outworn athletic facilities in Busan, Busan Metropolitan City set a construction plan of Busan Sports Complex in 1979. Since the year of launching the construction, Gymnastics gym was completed in July 1984, and in April 1989, built super-modern indoor gym, baseball ground, indoor training center(Gym in commemoration of Olympic medalist, Yang Jeong-Mo) matching international level of standard, and finished completing indoor swimming pool in April 1989. They provide a clear-cut enhancement to Busan athletic culture, with the open of tennis court, archery facility and roller skating rink. In particular, for the arrangement of 2002 Asian Games, we began a construction of new main stadium which can accommodate 80,000 spectators in the plottage of a hundred and thousand pyeong in March 1996, and successfully completed it in September, 2002.
